In this thread, I plan to chart stocks that are trading in predictable trends.

RCII has been trading in an up trend.

It has been respecting the lower trend line for support,

On Thursday, it found support there - again.

If today is an up day - I expect for RCII to start back up toward the upper trend line.

That could yield a 20 % to 25 % gain on the play.

gaps change the dynamic, i will be posting something this weekend regarding gaps, it will be called Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns - Part 2 breakaway gaps (close the gap within the first week) 1% of the time Continuation Gaps (close the gap within the first week) 9% of the time the gap has taken longer to fill in so the odds are that it will continue downward. by the way exhustion and area gaps there %'s are 64 and 92. oh and one more thing this is to the downside, the upside the %"s are a little different but not by much.

Hope This Helps And Don't Forget To Have A Fantastic Day.

Novice,

I believe that you are right. I overlooked that Gap Down, I was glad that you pointed that out.

And I, too, will be looking forward to your post on Gaps.

(I am trying a new imaging hosting website today)

RHB is an interesting play.

Break away a Gap on strong volume two weeks ago.
Big breakout on strong volume on 5/11 & 5/12.
Consolidation forming a symmetrical triangle within the context of an uptrend.
Breaking above the trend line yesterday and closing at support.

NUS is in an ascending triangle pattern testing resistance the last three trading days.
Yesterday it had a Doji that closed right at resistance.
MACD crossover and a positive Histogram

TRN, HOGS, PG, & WATG are all trading in an up channel.

They are on the bottom of their respective channels and have plenty of support.

They all have the potential to bounce to the upper limit of their channels.

Look at that spinning top sitting on the 20 EMA on Tuesday, June 15th. What a setup! Brick wall

Good pick again LikesMoney, it surely did move atleast 5% more after that.

Max, is there a screen to find spinning tops? Can one be created? What would be the parameters?

The only thing I do is search for dojis. Every narrow-range doji I've encountered so far sitting on a 20EMA after a retracement (like shown on STEC) has been a great setup. The only problem I've encountered is that a lot of times a large part of the move occurs in premarket or in the first 10 min of trading (like with STEC) but most of the time I've made a profit. Haven't been so successful chasing the momentum play after the move, specially in a choppy market, but it worked out nice with STEC. If you like momentum plays like STEC you can also scan for gaps or high volume. Maybe likesmoney can answer the question better, he is an awesome technical stock picker.

Max,

Thanks for the compliment. What I really like about Dojispace is that we are all sharing ideas and picks so we can all make more $$$ faster.

tkool99, I haven't tried to scan specifically for a Doji retracement sitting on a 20 Day EMA. I found STEC looking for stocks that were up and big volume.

Then I looked at a lot of charts. The STEC chart just jumped out at me.

I gave some thought about scanning for this setup where there is a DOJI sitting on top of a 20 EMA after a retracement.

I went to finviz.com

Clicked on Screener.

Then I choose "All" in the middle of the page. This gives you all of the technical screens to choose from.

Next I clicked on the drop down for candlestick and selected 'black spinning top'. My thinking here is that this may help to capture a retracement.

Then, I went to Average Volume and choose over 400K. I do not want to look at stocks that are too thinly traded.

I then went to 50 Simple Moving Average and choose SMA 50 above SMA 200 -- to screen for Bullish stocks. I also wanted to have the price above both the 50 & 200 MA so neither would act as resistance.

Then finally for performance, I choose Month - up -- again to help screen for Bullish Stocks

Here is what I came up with:

Here are a few charts:

I usually like to include RSI, CCI, & Stochastics when evaluating stocks. But really, I like those when I am looking for a trend reversal.

Tonight, I went with Accumulation/Distribution, MACD, and ADX as technical indicators because I felt they give a better take on what these stocks are doing right now.

Let me know what you think.

Happy Trading

Thanks for sharing likesmoney. I'll just set triggers for the top of those dojis (spinning tops) and let the trades come to me.
